Safety-Wise Says
Chapter 5 of Safety-Wise has a helpful "Trip Planning Checklist" which outlines every step leaders should take before traveling.

It also has a section called "Great Tips for Great Trips" to help you and your troop get the most out of your travel.

Visit this page next week for a new Safety-Wise focus!

:: Leader for a Day Program
Today's Leaders Mentor Tomorrow's Leaders
In its first year, the 2007 Girl Scout Leader for a Day Program brought prominent members of local communities together with 27 Girl Scout troops across the San Gabriel Valley.

In the spring of 2008 Mt. Wilson Vista Council will once again provide an opportunity for community leaders to meet Girl Scouts and their leaders who are making the world a better place!

This is a great chance for Girl Scouts to complete requirements toward several Daisy Petals, Try-Its, badges or Interest Project Awards and it's an easy meeting to plan! Click here to see the Program Links Guide.

For more information, contact Melissa Duncan, Communications Coordinator, at (626) 445-7771, ext. 315 or mduncan@gsmwvc.org.

:: Girl Scout Speak
Get your Safety-Wise from Council, but don’t ask your Service Unit Manager about it right now because the quiet sign is up. “What are we talking about?” you might ask yourself. As you embark on your Girl Scout experience, you will hear some words and phrases that are unfamiliar.

Don’t worry, you will quickly become accustomed to the various terminology. Another wonderful resources to use is
www.girlscouts.org, click on Girl Scout Central and then Glossary.

An Activity and Badge Web site for Brownie Girl Scout Troops
Created by Senior Girl Scout Lynn Phillips

CLICK TO ENTER

Senior Girl Scout Lynn Phillip's Gold Award Project was inspired by her lifetime love of earning badges. As a Senior Girl Scout, Lynn decided to complete her Gold Award by helping other Brownies and leaders who struggled to find activities they knew were “somewhere in the book."

She spent over fifty hours creating a database of Brownie Try-It activities then linking them to events that could complete them. The result was “An Activity and Badge Web site for Brownie Girl Scout Troops,” a complete cross-referenced Web site available to Brownie Scouts, leaders, and parents.
