:: Additional Programs
 Mono Lake Opportunity Posted 7/10/08 The Outdoor Experiences Program at Mono Lake is a recreation and education-oriented
outdoor program that takes place at Mono Lake and the surrounding mountains of the Eastern Sierras. This educational outreach
program, run by the nonprofit Mono Lake Committee, is open to youth groups, including Girl Scout troops, from May through
November. Minimum group size is 10, and the minimum age is 7 years old. Participant cost is $40 per person and groups provide
their own transportation and meals (for themselves and the program staff). Groups stay at the Cain Ranch House, which is home
base for the 4-night/5-day program that teaches girls about Mono Lake, its history, and its importance as a habitat for many
migratory birds.
There is a wide range of outdoor program opportunities that can be tailored to your troop’s
interests, but activities include canoeing through the tufa forest on Mono Lake, camping under the stars, night hikes through
the Jeffrey Pine Forest, and day trips into Yosemite’s high country. The knowledgeable staff of the Mono Lake Outdoor
Experiences Program are with you the entire trip to educate the girls on the source of Southern California’s water,
the natural geology of the area, and wildlife. The program is sprinkled with outdoor education and team-building games/activities
and is a lot of fun! This is a wonderful and unique opportunity for Girl Scouts. To have an information packet mailed to you,
please contact Terese Miller, 626-445-7771, ext. 318 or via email at tmiller@gsmwvc.org. Queen Mary Summer Tours Posted 5/29/08 Get in on the exciting Group Tour Packages available aboard Long Beach's International Historic Treasure,
