The First 95 Years
Memorabilia Collection Brings Girl Scout History to Life

Troops throughout Southern California are invited to a unique walk down Girl Scout memory lane at the Upland home of Carol and Ernie, long-time Girl Scout volunteers.

These passionate collectors have transformed their home into a museum with a vast collection of memorabilia that tells a comprehensive history of the Girl Scout Movement.

Thousands of items are on display, including uniforms through the years, photos, camping gear, jewelry, badges and insignia, dolls, books, camp post cards, cameras, and dozens of other categories.

From the earliest years of Girl Scouting to the present, all aspects of the program are represented.  There is also a “Try-It-On” area, where girls can see how they look in hats, sashes and vests from days gone by.

The tour consists of three or four parts (depending upon troop level) - a quick walk-through orientation, followed by a group discussion of Girl Scouting and its history, and then an opportunity for girls to explore the collection and ask about features that catch their individual attention.  Junior, Cadette and Senior Girl Scouts may also elect to view the 1918 silent film, "The Golden Eaglet."

The collection will be open from January through April, 2008. Girl Scout troops of all ages are invited to schedule a tour by calling (909) 985-0113 or e-mailing gsm@uia.net (put “Girl Scout Tour” in the subject line).  Tours are free of charge and range from 45 minutes to 1 ½ hours.  They also can be tailored to meet requirements for particular Try-Its, badges and IPAs.

Tag-alongs are not allowed.  Adult/girl Safety-Wise ratios must be met.
