Council Holds 2008 Annual Meeting Girl Scouts – Mt. Wilson Vista Council hosted its Annual Meeting on Tuesday, March 25, 2008 at Camp Mariposa.
Brenda Berg, CEO of Mt. Wilson Vista Council, delivered a State of the Council Address that highlighted the many
accomplishments of the council and its over 9,000 Girl Scouts and over 4,400 volunteers, demonstrating the strength and impact
of Girl Scouting in the San Gabriel Valley. Service Unit delegates were among those in attendance.
“Together,
in 2007 we have seen Girl Scouting impact our communities in many ways, through strong partnerships and collaborations and
through our commitment to our mission of building girls of courage, confidence and character, who make the world a better
place. And, as always, it’s all about Girls!” Berg said. In 2007 • 9,066 girls ages
5-17 participated in Girl Scout activities that focused on leadership development and skill building
• 4,430 adults
joined Girl Scouts to serve as positive role models and help girls discover, connect and take action
• 85 Senior
Girls Scouts earned the Gold Award, Girl Scouting’s highest honor, and contributed over 5,500 hours of service to the
community
• 1,659 girls made new friends and enjoyed the great outdoors at summer day camps
• 3,780 girls
were introduced to new and exciting vistas through Girl Scout programs that focused on the arts, sciences, cultural appreciation,
and outdoor adventures, among others
• 192 Girl Scouts explored the fields of science, technology, engineering and math
(STEM) in innovative programs that are a part of Mt. Wilson Vista Council’s expanding STEM initiatives
• 2,039 girls
from lower socioeconomic families, who might not otherwise have access to Girl Scouting, partici¬pated in Girl Scouts
through Mt. Wilson Vista Council’s Community-Based programs
• Girl Scouts contributed over 14,000 hours of
service to their communities through unique endeavors, including Bronze, Silver and Gold Award projects |
