Happy Girl
Scout Leader Day! A message of gratitude from CEO Brenda Berg
Each year, our volunteers contribute thousands of service hours to the Girl Scout Movement, and we recognize and appreciate
the excellent work that they are doing at every level. Girl Scout volunteers are at the core of a unique organization with
a 95-year legacy of awakening in girls their promise to develop their full potential. The Girl Scout Leadership Experience
truly changes girls’ lives.
As the world’s preeminent organization for girls, Girl Scouts offers a unique opportunity
for girls to develop their own personal leadership, learn the value of community service, and build strong values. We know
their success is strongly influenced by positive adult mentors. Whether supporting a girl as she commits to a project and
guiding her through the process, encouraging her as she rappels down a mountain for the first time, or guiding her troop that
is organizing a meaningful service project to benefit the community, these volunteers encourage the leader in every girl.
Locally, more than 4,400 adult volunteers make a difference every day. These extraordinary Girl Scout leaders and volunteers
offer their time and a positive influence to make Girl Scouting come alive for more than 9,000 girls throughout the San Gabriel
Valley. Without them, there would be no Girl Scouting! Most importantly, they create a positive and supportive place where
girls can just be themselves. Leaders help instill in girls the courage, confidence and character that will last a lifetime.
As Girl Scout founder Juliette Gordon Low said, “Do well your part today. The work of today is the history of tomorrow
and we are its makers.” Many, many thanks to all our volunteers for continuing the 95-year legacy of Juliette Gordon
Low! Happy Girl Scout Leader Day on April 22!
