New Bridge to Adult Girl Scouting Program for Seniors in June

The adventure continues for Senior Girl Scouts graduating this spring!  As girls approach high school commencement, they also prepare for their final bridging into Adult Girl Scouting.

In a new premiere event, Girl Scouts – Mt. Wilson Vista Council will host a very special bridging ceremony on June 5, 2008 from 6:00 to 7:30 p.m. at Camp Mariposa in Altadena.  All 12th grade graduating Senior Girl Scout troops, individuals and leaders are invited to attend this festive celebration.  Girls will have a unique opportunity to cross the bridge and continue to challenge themselves, meet new friends, and have new experiences as adults in Girl Scouting!

Over 50 million women worldwide were once Girl Scouts and a great many of them stay connected through an active alumni organization as well as continue to support the preeminent organization dedicated solely to girls as Adult Girl Scouts, leaders and volunteers.

There are many ways to stay connected with Girl Scouts.  Girls who attend college in the fall—whether living away from home in a dorm or home and commuting to classes— can participate in Campus Girl Scouting.  Campus Girl Scouts volunteer their skills and talents directly with girls and teens or use their skills and abilities to provide services at school, in their community, or at their Girl Scout Council.

Whether attending college or joining the work force, at age 18, Adult Girl Scouts are eligible to become troop leaders and co-leaders.  Young women can volunteer in additional ways that fit their schedules and interests.

With the development of the new Girl Scout Pathways—the ways that girls and adults participate in Girl Scouting—there are now several flexible ways for adults to get involved by simply matching their expertise, skills, interests, and life experience to the volunteer opportunities available at councils.

Adult Girl Scouts can work directly with girls through any camps, special events, special interest programs, travel, troop leadership, and support of other volunteers.

Come learn about these exciting opportunities.  Join Mt. Wilson Council for this special first-time event to celebrate the bridging of our graduating Seniors to Adult Girl Scouting where they will continue the thrilling journey of leadership, service, and lifelong friendships that can only be found in Girl Scouts.
