Leadership Development Pin and Leaves
What is the Leadership Development pin? Girl Scouts of the USA's Leadership Development pin recognizes successful
completion of adult training. Effective October 1, 2003, leaders who have completed training may purchase the pin at the Council Shop.
What training does a leader need to complete
to qualify to purchase the Leadership Development pin? A
leader must complete the Orientation, Topics and Traditions and the appropriate level training.
What training does a leader have to complete
to qualify to purchase the Leadership Development pin leaves? Leaders
can earn more than one leaf in each color. Listed below are the sessions they must complete to earn each leaf.
Green Leaf Completion of all three levels of Camping Skills training sessions. -and/or- Completion of three Outdoor Education sessions (Project WILD sessions, Adult Elliott sessions, Telescope Training, Exploring the Solar System, Knots and Lashing,
etc.).
Silver Leaf Completion of CPR and/or First Aid and two Troop Management or two Leader Skills training sessions.
Gold Leaf Bridging leaders complete the next level training and two Troop Management or Leader Skills sessions.
No Double
Dipping. No session can be applied more than once to earn a leaf.
Can leaders who have already completed training sessions purchase
the Leadership Development pin? Yes. All
training sessions from August, 2000, to the present will be counted. Leaders must present their green training card or verify
their training sessions with council staff before purchasing the pin or leaves. Sessions attended at Leadership 2000, 2001
or 2002 or Outdoor Odyssey count towards earning leaves. Call the Reception Desk at (626) 445-7771, extension 301

of Training? New Leader Training - Orientation, Topics and Traditions, Level Training
Camping Skills - Level I - Indoor Camping, Level II - Outdoor Cooking, Level
III -Outdoor Camping
Outdoor Education - Adult Elliot sessions, Project WILD sessions, Knots and Lashing,
etc.
Troop Management - Sanity for Senior Advisors, Domestic Troop Travel
Leader Skills - Teaching Songs and Games, Ceremonies, Lanyards, Crafts, Progression
in Service Projects, etc.
