:: Benefits of Girl Scouting
The All-Girl Environment
In our society, girls and boys often face different
expectations and learn different lessons. With boys around, girls are often allowed to expect less of themselves.
Studies show that in mixed groups, girls in general receive less adult attention than boys. And they face different challenges.
That's why today's girls need a place where they can take risks, learn from their mistakes without pressure
from boys and have fun with other girls.
Female
Role Models
A setting where female role models
are the norm rather than the exception can help girls develop into competent, confident women. In Girl Scouts, girls find
the guidance of a caring, trained female role model and the support system they need to face difficult situations and make
informed decisions in a world full of challenges and choices.
The Girl Scout environment increases female performance, achievement,
and leadership. It's no surprise that former Girl Scouts make up more than half the women in Congress and two-thirds of
the women listed in Who's Who.
The
Girl Scout Program
Girl Scouting builds girls of courage, confidence and character,
who make the world a better place. The program provides school-age girls with opportunities to make friends, explore interests,
gain self-confidence and learn life skills.
