This Week's Feature
2008 Minerva Leadership Program Last Chance to Apply! All Girl Scouts 16 years
old and older are invited to apply for the Minerva Leadership Program (MLP) at the Women’s Conference on October
22, 2008 in Long Beach. The Minerva Leadership Program is a forum for 500 young California women between the ages of 16 and
22 who have performed significant community service and have demonstrated leadership qualities in the spirit of Minerva —wisdom,
courage and strength. This year's distinguished guest speakers and participants include Bono from U2, investing
guru Warren Buffett, entertainer Jennifer Lopez and Secretary of State Condoleezza
Rice among many others. The young women and their chaperones who participate in MLP will be special

Robots
Redux! New teams forming NOW! After the incredible
success of the Robots! Robots! Robots! program in its first year, GSMWVC is forming new FIRST LEGO League (ages 9-14)
and FIRST Tech Challenge (high school age) teams for the upcoming season. During the four month Robots! Robots!
Robots! program girls work together to design and build a robot and then test their results in local and regional competitions.
Sign up as a troop or an individual – but do it soon, space is limited! No prior experience with robotics
